“JAZZ LICK OF THE WEEK”

Welcome to Piglet Music’s “Jazz Lick of the Week”.

Here I will post some nice jazz lines to try, and if you like them, add them to your “jazz vocabulary”.
Keep a regular eye on the page and you’ll find easy to difficult, and dixieland to mainstream to be bop lines, and I will aim to provide backing tracks to play them to.

“JAZZ LICK OF THE WEEK #13”

Here’s another Dixieland solo you might like to have a play over.
This week I’ve included 2 choruses of solos over “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”, plus a chorus of the melody out. It may serve the purposes for you of simply some reading material, or help with some stylistic development if you’re newish to jazz, or you may take away some licks from it.

Of course, if you enjoy this small sample you’ll enjoy the Dixieland book even more! (see link below).

As with week #12, I’ve included here a chorus for Trumpet and Alto sax, and each comes with an “easy” and medium/advanced” level solo. (easy dixieland, but probably not for the beginning player!).

Included here are:
– pdf’s for the instruments.
– A backing track with rhythm section only (fantastic “real” musicians, including piano, banjo, upright bass, and drums).
– demo tracks for each solo in case you’d like to hear how it goes.
